Well, it hit, just as bad as we thought. Storm number 3 of the past week. I got a call to go to work yesterday at 3, then it was decided that Sandie would stay on because she wasn't able to get home. She called at 7:30 to ask if I could come in since she had a ride... no problem i said. There was somone who was sure they could come in for 11, so i was just going to fill in for a couple of hourse. Off i went. As I'm bundled up and just heading out the door, Sandie calls my cell to say she found me a ride. I must admit i'm shocked.... The RCMP are coming to get me!
So a few minutes later, i arrive to work, safe and sound, warm and dry.
At work, i"m getting ready to head out at midnight... no one made it in for 11 after all, but they tell me i can go and Liz will cover both departments. One catch-- i'm not allowed to walk home in a blizzard at midnight (all of the Nurses took on the mom role and told me to stay). So before i knew it I had some OR scrubs as Pjs, a bed on a nursing unit, a warm blanket and a pager which someone was going to page to wake me up since I couldn't find my cell phone.
The floor where i slept was closed, so that also made it kind of creepy. I kept hearing footsteps and people going by. after a somewhat sleepless night it was time to get up and start the day again.
I went to Emerg to use the shower there, since the basement ones are kind of secluded and therefore not ideal. Helped Liz out with a couple of things and off i went to Health Records. I spent the day playing double agent-- back and forth between the two places. At 3:10, a very adamant co-worker came in to relieve me (adamant that it was her overtime shift to work and not mine, i wanted to do half of it.)
So here i am, back at home. Megan is out sledding, i was going to go by, but decided just to go home instead. Thinking of napping, thinking of homework, thinking of a shower. for now, i'll sit and eagerly await my next adventure.
