Winds of Change
When Holly told me she was moving back to Ontario at the end of June, it seemed so far away that I almost didn't believe her. Last week, she left.

When Adam told me he was going to Mexico for two months and then to Kingston, Ontario for 8 months, it seemed so far away that I didn't think the day would ever come. Tomorrow, he leaves.

When I moved to Halifax 4 years ago, I planned on staying only for two. Next year, I may or may not leave.

Blogger Story Tellers
She had heard the story so many times, it was not just a story. She had mistaken it for her own.
The story was always told using the same words, and she liked it that way. It became her story. She made it her story.

She always listened carefully as it was told. On the outside she pretended to be disinterested, while the tuth of the matter is that she was jealous. On a subconscious level, her mind took over the characters. They were now her friends. And in turn, she became the heroine.

The story was a true story. There is no doubt about that. But it wasn't her true story. One could argue that she believed it was, and if you didn't know the original, you would never know. She learned the hard way though, eventually it all catches up to you. You can make someone's truth your own, but eventually it all catches up to you. Maybe this is the beginning of a fok tale.

The Original Infamous Lowe
Once upon a time, many moons ago, at Dooly's on Barrington St, Tracy was out playing pool with some friends. She spotted her friend Adam accross the room, and therefore went over to say "Hi".
"I"m glad you're here", says Adam. "There is someone I want you to meet."
He then turns to someone, who Tracy had only seen in passing, and says "Gregg, you should come meet Tracy".

"You're Tracy?" Says Gregg with a look of astonishment.
"Yep"
"Tracy who?" he asks with hesitation.
"Tracy Lowe" she replies affirmatively.
"You're THE INFAMOUS TRACY LOWE??" He says, not only with surprise, but with a grin of enlightenment. "I've heard so much about you, I was beginning to think you didn't exist".
Tracy laughs out loud. "My reputation preceeds me, this can't be good".
"Don't worry Tracy Lowe, it's not that bad".
"You can call me Tracy, last name not necessary."
"Oh no, I can't do that Tracy Lowe, you're the infamous Tracy Lowe."

And from that day forth, Tracy was known as the Infamous Tracy Lowe. A name that she had to earn, not just by being memorable, but rather by being Infamous as only she can be. Sorry Christie this name is taken.

the mini guide to major happiness
Yum. Sea Salt and Lime. My new favourite flavour. I reach into the bag, but instead of crunchy goodness with a decent sprinkling of flavour, I feel something plastic, and cardboard like. Apparently, the Mini guide to Major happiness was waiting for me all along. Why didn't someone tell me sooner?

So here is the advice, from our good friends at Quaker, who boldly proclaim that there is "goodness inside".

"Character is doing what's right when no one is looking. " (the red text highlighting the word looking is how it appears)

in slightly smaller print, it says :

"So if everyone is looking do whatever you want."

And that's it. That's the secret to major happiness. I agree that a defining part of character is to do what is right even for your own sake, not necessarily because someone will see you. It's the next part that gets me. The do whatever you want part. How very reflective of our "I want to be consequence free and do what i want to do culture".

I found my dream job!
Tonight I thought i would indulge in a bit of online shopping. Skechers is one of my favourite shoe companies. As I was browsing their website I thought it would be good to find out if they had any job opportunities to me.... do they ever!!!!! The only problem is I don't have a size six shoe. Geuss what the job is.... a shoe model! They need someone with a size 6 foot (that's the sample size), to try on shoes, comment on comfort and style, and working with marketing teams. I wonder if I'd get to keep some of the shoes?

Throw Rocks at Boys
Here is a fun online game... you get to Throw Rocks at Boys... hence the title of this post.

Give it a try, its strangely addictive

Can you keep a secret?
Holly pointed me in the direction of a blog called PostSecret. Basically, people write up their secret on a postcard, decorated or not as per their inclinations, and then mail them in to an address listed on the website. Some of them are then posted for the world to read. The secrets are of course, still secret... they're posted anonymously.

So I was reading this, and it kind of got me thinking about all the secrets I have. Some secrets are just secret from some people, some secrets are secret from everyone.

I don't usually like the responsibility and expectations with knowing secrets. I like to know, but I like to work it out in my head. Call it what you will, it's the way I work.

I warn you, some of these secrets are hard to let go of. Even though you don't know the people that sent them in (or at least you don't know if you do), they'll haunt you. Consider yourself warned.

The Life Of Pi
A novel that mixes philosophy with religion is not a likely read for the likes of me. Nonetheless, with a bit of determination and an unqunechable curiosity, I have just finished The Life Of Pi (Yann Martell).

In a nutshell, it's a survival story of a boy trapped on a boat with a tiger. They're all each other has in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The book was interesting. In the beginning it was so eloquently written that I was intrigued and had to keep reading. The intrigue quickly turned to needing to know what happened and what exactly was the point. Eventually the story became exhaustive... i kept reading because I still had to find the point. Today, I read through the last part of the book. Searching the pages frantically for real life parallels, deeper meaning and an explanation. I'm still working through it in my head.

Reprise
I'm studying french right now, so in fact, it doesn't say REE- prize, it says, Ruh-pREEse
I love being a linguistic nerd.... if only i was a guru.

Well folks, I'm sorry I got you all excited, but I think i'm bailing on the head shaving challenge. Yes, I REALLY want to, but there are a few other factors stopping me. One of the main factors is I don't actually have enough hair for a wig, it has to be 6 inches when in a pony tail... mine is not. Sorry guys, I might change my mind in a couple of days, but i think that this decision is for the best right now.

I am, however, going to keep training for a 10K run.... maybe i'll do a big fundraiser then.

So if you think I should run ... tell me, if you'd rather see me shave it all off...you've only got a short while to try and change my mind.

Over and Out
